The Lord gave us a gift, an answer to our prayer;
He chose a special child, and placed you in our care.
A little girl of ten, he brought you to our home,
and though not ours by birth, we’ve loved you as our own.
We thank God for his gift; a blessing beyond compare.
He chose our family, a part of your life to share.
For that little girl we’ve prayed as you have grown.
And through the second birth, the love of Christ you’ve known.
The Lord gave you a gift, an answer to your prayer.
He chose a special man, that now your life will share.
No more our little girl; how quickly time has flown.
But throughout all the years, the hand of God has shown.
The Lord gave you a gift, an answer to your prayer.
He chose a special child, and placed her in your care.
This little baby girl will fill your heart and home
with love beyond compare, and blessings overflowing.
In 1989, a little girl named Christie joined our family. Two and a half years later we were finally able to adopt her. From the age of ten to eighteen isn’t very long to parent a child, and the years quickly passed. Soon Christie was married and starting her own family. I marked these milestones by adding a new verse to this little poem that I wrote for her when we adopted her.
God has a purpose and a plan for each of us, and we have no way of knowing what part we may play as he carries out his plan for someone else’s life. Although we weren’t able to share Christie’s early life, we are thankful for the time that we had, and that the Lord allowed our home to be the door to a new life for her. We pray every day for Christie and her husband, as they raise their own four children for the Lord.
1 Samuel 1:27 For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him;

This brought tears to my eyes and rejoicing in my heart, Deb. What a wonderful testimony of the work of God in her life and yours...to bring you into the path of eachother's lives. PRAISE THE LORD.
The photo is priceless of this sweet family...
The rewards here and there..are surely yours.
Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us.

That is precious, Deb. From the looks of her happy family, you and your husband did an excellent job raising her. And the Lord has blessed you all.
A job well done, indeed. Cathy put it well. Blessings, Cathryn
That poem is just beautiful!
