Lately, I've been feeling like my blog is a bit of a hodge podge, with no real focus. Over the past 18 months or so, I've started a few different blogs, attempting to separate my various interests into neat little boxes. In some ways that has worked, but it also means that I now have more posts to make if I want to keep those blogs current.
Recently I came across a blogger who had what she called 'channels' on her blog. These channels were really just different topics for different days. I really liked the way she had set it up, and I'm thinking it might be the answer to my scatter brained blogging. The only drawback would be worrying about always having a post that fits the topic of the day. I think the best way to deal with that is to just not stress about it. If I don't have a post on a particular day, I don't have a post that day...it's not a big deal!
My plan is to have topics Monday through Friday. I find that I have very few readers on the weekend, so often posts will just get pushed down the page and not read, so I'm really just wasting a post, and my time! By having daily topics, readers will get to know what type of post to expect on any given day....and so will I!
The new format will begin January 4, 2010. Towards the end of December, I'll be posting the schedule of daily topics. I can tell you that one topic will be related to family, and one will be about writing. A third topic is one that I've never blogged about, but need to get serious about - health & weight loss. The other two.....you'll have to wait and see!
I'm still working out the details, but I'm hopeful that this plan will help me stay more organized and less stressed.
Have you read other blogs with a schedule? What do you think of the idea?

Sounds like a good idea; it might help you know what to write about. I was doing that for awhile with our family blog - I posted a scripture verse on Sunday, a story I wrote on Monday, and a quote or saying on Thursdays. Usually the other children would have something for other days. I thought about assigning everybody a different day, but haven't done that so far.
I don't read your blog every time you post, but I do read the posts I missed when I do visit. I try not to do anything on my computer on Sundays.
It certainly doesn't matter if you miss a day. Very few bloggers actually update every day. I certainly don't.
Amen..yes..sounds perfect Deb!
Can't wait!!!
God bless..

Deb..I just had to comment once again on your wonderful songbook and CD you sent me...in the giveaway.
I just listened to I wait upon you Lord. What a blessed song!! Now I have two favorites already and learning them..and the CD arrived just this afternoon!
I hope your readers take the time to listen to the samples you have on your blog.

Thanks Hope, I'm glad you're enjoying them!
Deb, I think if you are changing the way you are going to have post
will be better. But I want your honest opinion. I think you need more than I give on Train them up Tuesday. A devotion I have no problem with but I do struggle sometimes with Tuesday. If you can get two more for Tuesday I will do something else. If not I will keep trying. I know I am my worst critic. E-mail me when you have time. I definitely want to participate.
Aliene, I've emailed, but just wanted to respond here, I love your Train Them Up Tuesday posts and I know others do too!
I've noticed that many bloggers write with a schedule. I wish I could but find that I write when something hits me! lol Not a good way but so far so good. Congrats on your new grandbaby! You have so many!!!Wow!
