Up until this month, we really haven't had much snow, which made it easier to work on the boys' skating rink. In the picture below, Brian was out flooding the ice, getting ready for company over Christmas.
Notice the lack of snow!(edited- the definition is in the comments section below)
I'm sure glad we have a snow blower to clear the rink.
Earlier in the week, Danny had been sick, and by supper time on Christmas day, the puking started again....this time with Jerry, then 'D' and finally Justin....and lasted until early the next morning, when our little girl climbed into our bed, and asked for a drink of water. Yup, I gave it to her, and a few minutes later, she gave it back....all over me. Fortunately, it was just water...she had nothing left in her by then.
And here's the little Princess, sound asleep on a hard rocking chair. I hadn't noticed she was there, because I was sound asleep on the couch...trying not to think about my quivering stomach!
After taking care of the kids all day, by last night, Brian wasn't feeling too good, and went to bed early. He's still exhausted today. There's still a little one year old in our house that has not been sick.....and I'm praying he doesn't start next!
Needless to say, with the blizzard and sick kids, our company didn't come on boxing day. I'm sure our visitors Christmas day are wishing they hadn't either!
So, how was your Christmas?!

9 friends left a note:
Oh, Debbie, that just sounds horrible. I'm so sorry you all are sick! Praying you will be well soon ~
On second thought, could it have been something you ate?
Love, Cathy
Sorry you all were sick. Hope some of you are feeling better by now. Silas got sick on Christmas Day with coughing and low grade fever. He could not go to church this morning. Think he is going to doctor tomorrow as he gets pneumonia easily. Unless it gets worse I will just keep coughing.
I'm sorry to hear about everyone being sick. I pray that everyone quickly recovers and no one else catches it.
My son wanted to know how deep is the skating rink? He (we) think this is way too cool,to have your own rink in the yard.
Sorry, you all are sick! We are so grateful that we were spared this year. We went through that last year. I do love the snow! I'm so looking forward to the day when we can go to the North and stay! All we had in Missouri for Christmas were a few flurries, nothing on the ground. God bless.
For the first time in over 80 years, Dallas/Fort Worth had a white Christmas! And I only had a husband down sick with a cold, no children around. Of course, our white had a lot of ice and I couldn't drive his pickup! We stayed in.
Sorry you've been sick. I'll be praying for you.
Do you ever do blog awards? I have another one for you if you want it.
He looks so cold out there with that water hose.
Praying for your sick children, and praying you don't get sick.
And one more thing,,, What is Boxing Day?
Thanks for stopping by everyone!
Theresa, I knew when I posted 'boxing day' I should have explained! Here's the wikipeadia definition: Boxing Day was traditionally a day on which the servants had a day off from their duties. Because of this the gentry would eat cold cuts and have a buffet-style feast prepared by the servants in advance. In modern times many families will still follow this tradition by eating a family-style buffet lunch, with cold cuts rather than a fully-cooked meal. It is a time for family, parlour games and sports in the UK.
The traditional recorded celebration of Boxing Day has long included giving money and other gifts to those who were needy and in service positions. The European tradition has been dated to the Middle Ages, but the exact origin is unknown and there are some claims that it goes back to the late Roman/early Christian era; metal boxes were placed outside churches used to collect special offerings tied to the Feast of Saint Stephen.[4] In the United Kingdom it certainly became a custom of the nineteenth century Victorians for tradesmen to collect their "Christmas boxes" or gifts in return for good and reliable service throughout the year on the day after Christmas.[5] However, the exact etymology of the term "Boxing" is unclear, with several competing theories, none of which is definitively true.[6] Another possibility is that the name derives from an old English tradition: in exchange for ensuring that wealthy landowners' Christmases ran smoothly, their servants were allowed to take the 26th off to visit their families. The employers gave each servant a box containing gifts and bonuses (and sometimes leftover food). In addition, around the 1800s, churches opened their alms boxes (boxes where people place monetary donations) and distributed the contents to the poor.[7]
The establishment of Boxing Day as a defined public holiday under the legislation that created the UK's Bank Holidays started the separation of 'Boxing Day' from the 'Feast of St Stephen', and today it is almost entirely a secular holiday with a tradition of shopping and post-Christmas sales starting.
-Boxing day is now very much like your Black Friday...which I'd never heard of until I strted blogging!
This is my first visit to your blog and I enjoyed every minute. My Christmas day was a little bit like yours. #3 grandchild slept through most of it due to the flu, #2 grandchild and her dad were showing signs of it by the time they left. We aired out the house as best we could and so far only one more grandchild got it. But it was still a blessed day, surrounded by family. Your blog is a blessing.
