What's Your Song?

Inspiration for songs comes in many different forms. Sometimes, a portion of the Bible that I've read many times before, will just seem to jump off the page, and I see it in a way I've never seen before. Often, I get an idea from a message in church; sometimes from a particular scripture or just a phrase. There have even been times that the outline a preacher gave for his message became the outline for a song. Last week, I read a blog post that just begged to be made into a song. Other songs have been written for special occasions such as Christmas, weddings, Father's Day or Mother's day, and each of my children have inspired at least one song.
I love to write songs for other people. I started doing this years ago, when a friend asked if I would write a song for her to give to her husband on their anniversary. It was a great experience to be able to take her thoughts and ideas and scriptures that were important to them, and be able to give them the gift of a song. Since then, I've created a questionaire for people to fill out, and from that, I attempt to write a song for them. I say attempt, because not every questionaire has that 'something' that makes a song. I can't even tell you what that 'something' is, but I know it when I see it!
With that thought in mind, I decided it was time to post my updated questionaire for anyone who would like a song written. Maybe your answers will have that 'something' that will spark a song. You can email your answers to debbolack at gmail dot com.
If I do write a song based on your questionaire, I'll let you know. If you're interested, I'll send a pdf of the sheet music.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Do you have a 'life verse'? If not please list a few favorite verses, and what they mean to you.
2. What is your favorite story (or stories) from the Bible? Why is it meaningful to you?
3. Do you have a favorite 'phrase' from the Bible? (such as 'it came to pass,' 'his mercy endureth forever,' 'that good part,' but God' etc.)
4. Do you have some special memories or a testimony that you would like incorporated into a song? (links to special blog posts are helpful)
5. If you had a theme song for your life and faith, what thoughts or statements would you want it to contain?
6. What would your theme song sound like? (what music style, fast, slow, upbeat, sombre...give an example of a similar sounding song if possible)
7. Anything else you want to add. The more information I have the better!
p.s. If you've filled out a questionaire before, but didn't get a song, please try again..... I may just need more info.
This is so cool that you write songs for people. I'm musically challenged to say the least. I'd never attempt to sing a song to my hubby, but I love this idea for those who are musically inclined.
