The world turned black at Calvary,

when God’s face turned away.
Jesus’ voice alone pierced through the dark,

as he bore my sin and my shame.

Jesus alone came to ransom me.
Jesus alone came as a light in the dark.
Jesus alone came to forgive and give life.
Jesus alone washed the sin from my heart.

Just like the thief at Calvary,

I’d longed for paradise.
Jesus’ love alone could lead me home;

forgive me and give me new life.

God’s grace flowed down at Calvary,

to fill my empty heart.
Jesus’ blood alone had cleansed the stain

of sin that had kept us apart.

Jesus alone came to ransom me.
Jesus alone came as a light in the dark.
Jesus alone came to forgive and give life.
Jesus alone washed the sin from my heart.

Jesus alone washed the sin from my heart.

Jesus alone could save me, and when he was on that cross he truly was alone. Even his Father had to turn away as Jesus alone bore my sin. It’s only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ that I have access to heaven and have new life. Jesus alone can fill my heart and give me peace.

Luke 23:43-46 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. And it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my Spirit; and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
