His Great Love

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I was dead in sin, God spoke so tenderly.
I knew that friends were praying, and weeping just for me.
God, who is rich in mercy, with his great love, loved me,
and now I am persuaded, through faith, his grace saved me.
I left my false profession, and Jesus set me free,
when I surrendered all at the cross of Calvary.
God who is rich in mercy, with his great love, loved me,
and now I am persuaded, through faith, his grace saved me.
He took my heavy burden, and now abides in me.
He gives my life direction, and fills my heart with peace.
God who is rich in mercy, with his great love, loved me,
and now I am persuaded, through faith, his grace saved me.
God's great love saved me.
When our son, Lorne was sixteen, we attended our church’s family camp, as we did every year. The message being preached that morning was from Ephesians Chapter 3, but Lorne happened to glance over at Ephesians 2: 4,5 and read, But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) Lorne was suddenly struck with the realization that God loved him! Not that this was new to him, but he had just never quite seen it so clearly before. The invitation song was, ‘Almost Persuaded.……..almost but lost.’ The message from the previous day had been, “Don’t Go To Hell On a False Profession.” Lorne had made previous professions of salvation, but that morning he knew that he was still lost. At the end of the message, Lorne went forward and asked the Lord to save him. Praise the Lord! A few days later I asked Lorne to jot down a few thoughts and scriptures that had led to his salvation, and I wrote ‘His Great Love,’ as Lorne’s salvation song.
Lorne has had his share of struggles as he has made his way along this journey. It is my prayer that no matter what trials come in this life, Lorne will always remember that God’s rich mercy and great love have never diminished.
Ephesians 2:4,5 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
