Early Christmas morning,
the sun has yet to rise,
I stand beside my window,
and watch the eastern sky.
From the quiet of the shadows
a carol softly plays,
proclaiming Jesus coming,
angelic voices raised.
Then I close my eyes and picture
the wonder of that day.
An angel is descending
from heaven through the night,
with the glory of the Lord,
a brilliant shining light.
And then suddenly a host of angels fill the sky,
singing praise and giving glory
to God and to the Christ.

~
Then my mind turns to the future,
an awesome glorious sight.
The Lord himself descending
from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel
and the sounding of God's trump.
In the twinkling of an eye,
the dead in Christ all rise,
then we're all caught up together
to meet Christ in the sky.
~Early Christmas morning,
the sun's begun to rise.
I stand beside my window,
and watch the eastern sky.
~Even so come Lord Jesus,
come quickly, Amen!
Come quickly, Amen!

Luke 2:9-14
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed.
Revelation 22:20 He that testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
I wrote this song while the rest of the Christmas songs were already being recorded for the cd. As with all of the songs, I left it to the young people recording to 'interpret' how they thought it should sound. My only input on this one was that I wanted a 'big finish'! Apryl knew just what I meant! I knew that Jordan, the young man singing had the right voice for the song, and he did a great job.

I would like to do the song again sometime, as the one thing I didn't get across, and there really wasn't time to add, is a second voice. In this recording, Chantalle does come in, but she is singing the same part. I want it to sound like the song says, "a carol softly plays..." I also want to add 'allelujahs' for the angelic voices.
I can hear all of this in my head, but getting it down on sheet music or explaining it to someone else isn't always easy! If I get a recording of what I want, I'll repost it!
Now, the story behind the song........ I was listening to a Gospel singing show featuring Christmas music, and my mind wandered....I started thinking of Christmas morning. Our living room window faces the east, and if you've read about my Traditions song, then you know that I'm always the first one up Christmas morning. I turn on just the Christmas lights, and have Christmas carols playing softly. As I wait for my family to wake up, I have a cup of coffee and watch the sun come up. So, as my mind wandered, I then began to think of the Lord's return.....and soon I was grabbing a piece of paper and scribbling down my thoughts!
I don't remember much of the music writing process....just that I knew there were places I wanted it to be soft, that I wanted it to build, and a key change seemed like the best way to achieve that....then back to soft, and ending with a big finish!
It's hard to pick a favorite song, since they're all my babies, but of my Christmas songs, this one is right up there with Such Awesome Love!
I hope you enjoy it...now try to hear the angelic voices as you listen!
