God's Hand, Psalm 37:24

a hand holding a lady slipper, God's hand

  As a child, our daughter, Nicole, used to trace her hand on paper, and then draw pictures below it. She said it was God’s hand reaching down from heaven. I wanted to write a song about that picture, but the song took it’s own direction, and became a more personal story of how God had reached out to me, not at salvation, but at a crossroads in my life.

  It was my own lack of faith that had brought me to this place. Somewhere along the way I had allowed myself to become content with simply skimming the surface of God’s truth, and as a result I was no longer walking closely to my Lord. When I finally reached out to him and truly sought his face, God’s hand lifted me up to a place where I could once again see the light of his truth. As I felt the healing touch of God’s hand, my doubts and fears melted away, replaced by a wonderful peace in my heart.
  How thankful I am that not only is God reaching down and supplying all of my needs, as Nicole’s drawing showed, but he is actually holding me in his hand!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God’s hand reaching out in mercy and grace,
touched my heart that I might see,
and beckoned me to seek his face.
His truth would set me free.
~
God’s hand, God’s hand.
I reached out and took God’s hand.
Lifted up by God’s hand,
Now on higher ground I stand.
~
God’s hand reaching out to my wounded heart,
his touch a healing balm,
caused all my doubts and fears to depart;
restored the peace and calm.
~
God’s hand, God’s hand.
I reached out and took God’s hand.
Lifted up by God’s hand,
Now on higher ground I stand.
~
God’s hand reaching out when I go astray,
draws me gently to his side.
He softly calls to show me the way;
his still small voice my guide.
~
God’s hand, God’s hand.
I reached out and took God’s hand.
Lifted up by God’s hand,
Now on higher ground I stand.
~
Lifted by God’s hand.
