Fuzzy Blue - Daniel's adoption song

Our God puts together families in such surprising ways.
We weren’t looking for a blessing when you came to us that day.
But we wrapped you up in fuzzy blue, not knowing how long you’d stay.
We held you closer to our hearts and loved you more each day.
~
As God chose his own Son’s family to give him love and care,
he’s still placing little blessings in those homes with love to share.
Now you’ve wrapped yourself around our hearts;
we know that you’re here to stay.
We hold you in that fuzzy blue, and thank the Lord each day.
~
We're so thankful for our blessing wrapped up in fuzzy blue..

Isaiah 63:7a I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us,

Daniel came to us straight from the hospital, as a foster baby, and we wrapped him up in a fuzzy blue blanket that he still sleeps with every night. He was only supposed to stay for a short time, but plans changed, and we were able to adopt him when he was eighteen months old. We hadn’t expected to adopt another child, but once again, God had other plans, and of course we are thankful every day for our unexpected blessing!

Our Starfish - Jeremy's adoption song

Adoption song

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Walking along a sandy beach,
a boy saw star fish at his feet.
One by one he threw them far;
into the ocean, flew each little star.
~
Then a man who was watching just shook his head.
“You can’t save them all,” he finally said.
As the boy threw a star fish out to the sea,
he gazed out at the water, and he started to speak.
“ I can’t save all the star fish that wait on this shore,
But I gave that one a chance to live life once more.”
~
As I thought of a star fish out of the sea,
the Lord touched my heart, and he spoke to me,
of a boy who was needing someone to come,
and give to him a family and a home of his own.
So, we took our starfish, a gift from the Lord,
and together we’ve been blessed far beyond that shore.
~
Walking along a sandy beach.
Luke 15:4,6 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
And when he cometh home, he calleth his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
Brian and I had decided to adopt another child, and a year after we began the process, we were told about a little fifteen month old boy. The information we were given described a beautiful little boy with twinkling blue eyes, who was at risk of having many developmental problems as he grew older. As much as we wanted another child, we needed to know for sure that this was the one the Lord had for us.
As we prayed for God’s guidance, our church had a visiting preacher come to share his ministry. He used the story of the starfish as an illustration. God’s answer couldn’t have been more clear. This little boy was our starfish. One month later we brought Jerry home.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JERRY!
We Pray For Canada - for Canada Day
~~~~~~~~~~~

While the values of this country are diminished day by day,
may we lift your standard higher, to show the only way.
~
Make us a lighthouse on the sea, drawing souls to faith in thee.
And in your strength help us to stand, against attacks throughout this land.
Lord, shine the light of your salvation, in the hearts across our nation.
Lord, we pray for Canada, and your blessings from above.
~
While folks claim their rights and freedoms,
lives are crushed beneath sins waves.
May we sound a warning siren, and tell them Jesus saves.
~
Make us a lighthouse on the sea, drawing souls to faith in thee.
And in your strength help us to stand, against attacks throughout this land.
Lord, shine the light of your salvation, in the hearts across our nation.
Lord, we pray for Canada, and your blessings from above.
~
As we beam the gospel message, shining hope and grace on lives,
may they reach out for the lifeline, that they may come to Christ.
~
Make us a lighthouse on the sea, drawing souls to faith in thee.
And in your strength help us to stand, against attacks throughout this land.
Lord, shine the light of your salvation, in the hearts across our nation.
Lord, we pray for Canada, and your blessings from above.
~
As we pray for Canada, may revival start with us.

Every day, the values of our country are increasingly eroded. Immoral groups push for their rights, while the rights and freedoms of believers continue to be infringed upon. More and more children grow up without ever hearing about Jesus Christ. As the darkness of sin spreads across our nation, we as a body of believers have the responsibility to shine the light of the gospel through that darkness, in our own city, and across this country. We pray that God will continue to give us opportunities to spread his word, as he draws the lost to his saving grace.

Isaiah 62:10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

My Father Prays For Me - for Father's Day

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My father isn't a man of great riches,
owning gold or property.
He doesn't seek for worldly wealth.
He has the treasure we need,
laid up in heaven's storehouse for all eternity.
And this most precious jewel he shares;
my father prays for me.
~
My father prays for me, in the calm and through the storm.
Yes, he prays for me, through the night and in the morn.
No matter what my need, I know he will intercede.
He lifts me up before God's throne.
My father prays for me.
~
My father isn't a man of great knowledge,
found in books or a degree.
He doesn't seek wisdom of men.
He has the answer we need.
His trust is in God's word that endures eternally.
And this most precious jewel he shares.
My father prays for me.
~
My father prays for me, in the calm and through the storm.
Yes, he prays for me, through the night and in the morn.
No matter what my need, I know he will intercede.
He lifts me up before God's throne.
My father prays for me.
My father prays for me.
*I wrote this song for my grown up kids to sing for their dad on Father's day.*
My husband is not a rich man by the world’s standards, and he is not a university educated man. His learning has come through experience, hard work, and living for the Lord. He may not have a lot of wealth or book learning to pass on to his children, but he has something far more valuable. He has a relationship with the Lord of lords and King of kings, and every morning he lifts his children up before the throne of grace.
It took many years of marriage, and a lot of heartbreak for us to get into the habit of praying together regularly. Because I am not an early riser, Brian has made it his practice to sit on the edge of our bed, and pray with me every morning before he leaves for work. He prays for each of our grown children and their families, then our younger children, and then any special prayer requests we may have that day.
I pray that my children know how blessed they are to have a father who prays for them regularly!
Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steel:
Psalm 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Two Lives Made One - a wedding song
(stop at end of song)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today we pledge our love to live as one in Christ;
now to have and to hold, to join as man and wife.
~
Bone of my bones; flesh of my flesh.
Two hearts, one love.
Two promises, one covenant.
Two lives made one in Christ.
~
Today we will unite, surrounded by such love.
Now in candle light, we join our flames as one.
~
Bone of my bones; flesh of my flesh.
Two hearts, one love.
Two promises, one covenant.
Two lives made one in Christ.
~
Today we journey on. We're travelling side by side,
trusting in our Lord to be our daily guide.
~
Bone of my bones; flesh of my flesh.
Two hearts, one love.
Two promises, one covenant.
Two lives made one in Christ.
~
Two lives made one in Christ.

Genesis 2:23a And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:
Ephesians 5:31  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

True Love - a wedding song

 True love makes a commitment to be there come what may.
True love survives through hardships; grows stronger every day.
True love is a decision to stick through thick or thin.
True love is kind and patient; forgives and gives again.

1 Corinthians 13

True love makes a commitment to be there come what may.
True love survives through hardships; grows stronger every day.
True love is a decision to stick through thick or thin.
True love is kind and patient; forgives and gives again.

True love bears all things, believes and hopes all things.
True love will never fail, for true love endures all things.

True love is not diminished as years go passing by.
True love comes from our Father, to share the vast supply.
True love has no conditions; it doesn’t keep a score.
True love just keeps on loving, and loving more and more.

True love bears all things, believes and hopes all things.
True love will never fail, for true love endures all things.

True love came down from heaven; gave all that he could give.
True love will guide your future, as your new lives begin.

True love bears all things; believes and hopes all things.
True love will never fail when your lives are one in Him.

 I originally wrote this song for Brian and gave it to him on our 22nd anniversary. Our Pastor had begun teaching a series on marriage and the family, and if I recall correctly, he had given some homework. I don't remember the details, but this song was the result!

 Later I made a few changes and added more lyrics. I sang it at a wedding shower for a friend.

I wrote about our love story on my Living Our Lives well blog, HERE.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth;

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

How Shall The people Hear?

©Deborah Bolack & Dana Talbot 1996
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Burn in our minds an image that cannot fade away.
Create in hearts a burden that lasts beyond today,
for a world that’s lost and dying, on the road to hell,
while the ransomed of the Lord in contentment dwell.
~
For faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
But how shall the people hear, if we won't do our part?
Lift up your eyes and look; already the fields are white.
Don’t wait any longer to bring the darkness light.
~
Lord, please work in each heart to heed the Saviour’s call,
to follow where he leadeth, and surrender all.
To reach the many nations, Lord, this is our prayer;
to proclaim the name of Jesus, at home and everywhere.
~
For faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
But how shall the people hear, if we won't do our part?
Lift up your eyes and look; already the fields are white.
Don’t wait any longer to bring the darkness light.
He that goeth forth with weeping, bearing precious seed,
shall come again rejoicing, bringing with him his sheaves.
So let our hearts be broken, as for souls we pray,
and let us not grow weary showing them the way.
~
For faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
But how shall the people hear, if we won't do our part?
Lift up your eyes and look; already the fields are white.
Don’t wait any longer to bring the darkness light.
~
How shall the people hear? Oh we must shine His light.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Psalm 126:6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

John 4:35b behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

Often when we have a missionary come to present his field, we feel a burden for the lost souls he is trying to reach, and even give in the offering to help with his support. But after he leaves we go on with our lives, and before long we’ve forgotten that mission field and maybe even the missionary’s name. If only God could burn in our minds a picture of the lost souls sliding into hell, as we sit in the comfort of our church, taking for granted the Bible we hold in our hands, and the salvation in our hearts.

* This was one of the first lyrics I wrote. I knew nothing about music, so I asked my daughter Dana to write music for it. My daughter Christie played for us and we sang it in church. We had it recorded at one time, but it was on cassette and I no longer have a copy.
*This song will be in Apollos Watered

Christ Did The Work

God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of my Lord, Jesus Christ,
for all of my works avail nothing; but a new creature, in him, I’m alive!
