Unto My King, 1 Timothy 1:17

1 Timothy 1:17

I wanted to write a worship song using the many descriptions of God found in the epistles.

Stepping Stones, Romans 8:28

I wrote this song after hearing a message by the same name. I’ve since heard others talk about turning stumbling blocks into stepping stones, but at the time it was a new expression to me; one that called out to be a song! In the months after writing this song, it began to take on a more personal meaning.

Hot, Lukewarm, Or Cold ~ Revelation 3:15-16

Rev. 3:15-16

My husband used to work at a window factory, as production supervisor. This meant he dealt with all of the suppliers, and their salespeople. Periodically, they would give him promotional items. One day, he brought me home this coffee mug. It looked like an ordinary cup, with the company name and slogan....typical promo gift.

Little did I know, this simple navy blue coffee mug was really quite unique, and had a promo of it's own.

God Opened the Door Isaiah 55:8

When Brian and I married at age 22, we were excited to begin our lives together. Even though we were young, we had both been through some serious difficulties, and were happily looking forward to a fresh start, building a family together. At the time, neither of us knew the Lord as Saviour, and it never occurred to us that someone else might have a say in our future plans. But five years down the road, all of that changed.
When our son, Lorne was just two years old, we both came to know Jesus. Two years later, we decided to try to have another child. With two older sisters, Lorne was hoping for a brother, but we would have been happy with whatever the Lord sent us, boy or girl. It turned out that God had plans for neither. After four lost pregnancies, it was clear that another baby was not in our future.

During that time, I drew very close to the Lord, and though I didn't understand His reasons for not allowing us to have another baby, I was completely at peace with whatever happened, even during the times I was hospitalized, able to do nothing but wait. That time just served to strengthen my faith in whatever God had planned.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither your ways my ways. saith the Lord. Isaiah 55:8

It was two years later that adoption came up, and all of a sudden, everything became clear. I truly believe that when God closed the door to us having biological children, he opened the door to us fostering and adopting. This is the plan that he had for our lives, and he put the desire in our hearts to raise other people's children as our own. He has blessed us far beyond what we could have imagined, but he has brought us through some difficult times too. He never promised us that it would be easy or that everything would always go the way that we think it should. Our Lord allows difficulties in our lives that we may grow nearer to him.

Has God closed a door in your life? No matter how difficult our circumstances, God can and will provide another way.....we just have to keep our focus on Him....and be ready to follow where He leads!
