My Reason To Sing

Psalm 104:33

(intro)
God laid the Earth’s foundation,
and set the world in its place;
raised up majestic mountains,
carved valleys, and spread out the plains.
God made and garnished the heavens,
 and set the stars in the night;
designed the morning sunrise,
bestowed on the world his light.
~
And yet he thought of me,
with a love that spans all time and space.
Yes, created me with a special plan for all my days.
~
God sent his Son to save me,
forgave me all of my sins.
He gave his word to guide me,
his Spirit to dwell within.
God made my heart to hold him,
before my life had begun,
Then gave me breath to praise him,
and whispered, “There’s songs to be sung.”
~
And now he lives in me, and he gives me a reason to sing.
Yes, abides in me; my Creator, my Saviour and King.
~
To God be the glory, he is my reason to sing!
My reason to sing!

What an awesome thought! The God who created this world, this universe, and things that I can’t even see or imagine, loves me! To think that before I was even born, he knew me, and he had a plan for my life!

Hebrews 1:10 And, thou , Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

Psalm 8:3,4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Psalm 104:33 I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

Don't Look Back

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My heart was overwhelmed by the times I’d compromised.
Past mistakes and failures were all there before my eyes.
How could my Saviour use me? I’d wasted so much time.
As I bowed my head in sorrow,
I heard a still small voice reply,
~
“Don’t look back, the past is past;
put your hand to the plow.
Today you can move forward,
if you’ll trust me and serve me now.
Don’t look back, just run the race,
and press on toward the mark.
Lay aside every sin and weight;
just trust me with all your heart.
~
If you’re longing to be free from the cords of sin that bind,
You can have forgiveness; don’t believe the devil’s lies.
The Lord still wants to use you, so now redeem the time.
If you’ll bow your head, repenting,
I know a still small voice will guide.
~
“Don’t look back, the past is past;
Put your hand to the plow.
Today you can move forward,
if you'll trust me and serve me now.
Don't look back, just run the race,
and press on toward the mark.
Lay aside every sin and weight;
just trust me with all your heart.”
Don't Look Back
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There have been times in my life when I felt that I had failed my Lord and Saviour; that I had spent so much time putting my own desires ahead of His, that it was too late to make up for lost time....that He could never use me. But it's never too late, to turn back to the Lord. God has a plan for each one of us, and even though we may take detours, and get off the path he has set before us, there is always a way back....and the moment I bow my head in repentance, the Lord takes my hand and leads the way. The rest of the road may be different from what the Lord had originally planned, but the same God who made a way in the wilderness is able to once again lead me beside still waters and through green pastures. I am so thankful that with the rising of the sun each new day, my Lord and Saviour gives me a fresh start, and an opportunity to serve him.

That fresh start is there for you too. "Don't look back, the past is past, today you can move forward if you'll trust me and serve me now."

Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

God's Miracles

Lord give me the eyes of a child;
To see your hand in every gift and trial,
To marvel at your works, to wonder at your grace,
To stand in awe and glorify your name.

Original Christian Song

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Momma, I just saw one of God's miracles!
And I know he did it just for me.
He planted that blue flower in the middle of the field,
Just to tell me how much he cares for me.
~
Lord give me the eyes of a child;
To see your hand in every gift and trial,
To marvel at your works, to wonder at your grace,
To stand in awe and glorify your name.
~
Every day we experience God's miracles,
but we're quick to simply brush them aside.
We count them little blessings,and we say a prayer of thanks,
as we go on about our busy lives.
~
Lord give me the eyes of a child;
To see your hand in every gift and trial,
To marvel at your works, to wonder at your grace,
To stand in awe and glorify your name.
~
Everyone wants to tell of God's miracles;
of great healings, and of reaching lost souls.
But greater is the message of a simple childlike faith,
crying,"I just saw one of our God's miracles!"
~
Lord give me the eyes of a child;
To see your hand in every gift and trial,
To marvel at your works, to wonder at your grace,
To stand in awe and glorify your name.
~
Lord, I just saw one of your miracles!
I stand in awe and glorify your name!
This song was based on a post written by a blogger friend. I decided to include her post here, so you'll see just why I had to write this song....how could I not!?
Here is Julie's post below......God's Miracles.....
Have you ever had a time when something was said, maybe it wasn't even said to you, but you heard it and just couldn't get it out of your head? This happened to me the other day. We were driving to church when Jerry yelled out excitedly from the back seat, "Momma, I just saw one of God's miracles!" I can't even remember exactly what he saw. It had something to do with a turkey balloon and the wind!? (Jerry's four-going-on-five.) Regardless, I just haven't been able to shake that statement.
Everyday, God does wonderful, amazing things all around us and we just keep on going like it was nothing. Young children see things differently. I suppose that's one of the reasons we've been admonished to have faith like a child. Jerry often marvels over things that seem so everyday to me. I was reading in the Psalms to the kids a few nights ago when Jerry just couldn't get over the fact that God, the Almighty God, wants to be his God too. I remember last Easter when Jerry found a little purple flower growing in the middle of a huge field. He wondered that the Creator of the Universe put that little flower right there for him to enjoy. This morning, he said he was so thankful that God helped him to sleep all night long. Every day brings some new revelation to strengthen his faith in the I AM.
Recently, we have seen many of God's miracles. God has healed my father's irregularly high heart rate, surprising the doctors, and giving us reason to rejoice. We have driven many thousands of kilometers through mountains, valleys, plains, desert, etc... and have not had one accident. God has spared us from the more serious flu viruses going around. The list goes on.
Everyday God puts miracles -- not chance circumstances, not coincidences -- but MIRACLES in our lives. How often do we recognize them? Big things like miraculous healings, well, those are the ones we can't wait until testimony time to share. For some reason, we often convince ourselves that "big" miracles are a sign of God's approval on our lives. Yet, we diminish the importance of what we consider "little blessings" as inconsequential. Even when we do value them, we are embarrassed to share them because it seems childish to think of such things as miracles. Consider this -- ALL of God's miracles are for the simple reason of bringing glory to GOD. Don't be afraid to share them.
Let me ask you this, "What is a miracle?" This may seem over simplified, but -- miracles are something only God can do. It took no more of God's power to heal my dad than it did to put a little blue flower in a field in just the right spot for a little boy to learn that God cares about him. It takes the same power to save a sinful soul from Hell that it does to keep you breathing.
"Momma, I just saw one of God's miracles!" Have you seen a miracle lately? God bless you. Keep on a prayin'!
His Great Love
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When I was dead in sin, God spoke so tenderly.
I knew that friends were praying, and weeping just for me.

God, who is rich in mercy, with his great love, loved me,
and now I am persuaded, through faith, his grace saved me.

I left my false profession, and Jesus set me free,
when I surrendered all at the cross of Calvary.

God who is rich in mercy, with his great love, loved me,
and now I am persuaded, through faith, his grace saved me.

He took my heavy burden, and now abides in me.
He gives my life direction, and fills my heart with peace.

God who is rich in mercy, with his great love, loved me,
and now I am persuaded, through faith, his grace saved me.

God's great love saved me.

When our son, Lorne was sixteen, we attended our church’s family camp, as we did every year. The message being preached that morning was from Ephesians Chapter 3, but Lorne happened to glance over at Ephesians 2: 4,5 and read, But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) Lorne was suddenly struck with the realization that God loved him! Not that this was new to him, but he had just never quite seen it so clearly before. The invitation song was, ‘Almost Persuaded.……..almost but lost.’ The message from the previous day had been, “Don’t Go To Hell On a False Profession.” Lorne had made previous professions of salvation, but that morning he knew that he was still lost. At the end of the message, Lorne went forward and asked the Lord to save him. Praise the Lord! A few days later I asked Lorne to jot down a few thoughts and scriptures that had led to his salvation, and I wrote ‘His Great Love,’ as Lorne’s salvation song.
Lorne has had his share of struggles as he has made his way along this journey. It is my prayer that no matter what trials come in this life, Lorne will always remember that God’s rich mercy and great love have never diminished.

Ephesians 2:4,5 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

Bring Them Unto Me

Bring them unto me,
your lost, your loved, your wayward ones,
bring them unto me, bring them unto me.
Oh hurt and weary come, come on bended knee,
and bring them unto me.

A father in despair is trying desperately
to find someone to deliver his son
from the devil's snare, and set him free.
But all he's tried has failed, and his heavy heart is grieved.
He's struggling on; his hope is almost gone,
when Jesus says, "Bring him unto me."
~
Bring them unto me,
your lost, your loved, your wayward ones,
bring them unto me, bring them unto me.
Oh hurt and weary come, come on bended knee,
and bring them unto me.
~
A child gone astray can shatter all our dreams.
Our hopes and plans built on shifting sand,
that keeps giving way beneath our feet.
But in our brokeness is the healing that we need.
We'll find the strength to hope and trust again,
'cause Jesus says, "Bring them unto me."
~
Bring them unto me,
your lost, your loved, your wayward ones,
bring them unto me, bring them unto me.
Oh hurt and weary come, come on bended knee,
 and bring them unto me.
~
Bring them unto me, and lay them at my feet.

I wrote this song in January, 2010. My friend Aliene had posted a message by Charles Spurgeon, who just happens to be one of my favorite preachers from days gone by.

His text was Mark 9:19 He answereth him, and saith, oh faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

In his message he kept repeating the phrase, "Bring them unto me!" Of course those words stuck in my head until I put them into a song.

God gave you life, God gave you breath,
and for a time he’s given you to us.
You brought us joy right from the start.
 For all time you’ll be in our hearts.
All things work together for good,
the Lord has promised in his word.
And in his plan we will put our trust,
for it was he who lent you to us.

We gave you love, we watched you grow,
and if in time, we have to let you go,
God will give peace; you’re in his hands.
In his time we will understand.
And so for the time  you are here,
we’ll hold each moment precious and dear.
And thank the Lord for the time that we share,
and for entrusting you to our care.

God gave you life, God gave you breath,
and for a time he’s given you to us.
God gives us grace, you’re in his hands.
In his time we will understand.

You are in his hands.

Acts 17:25, 28

Acts 17:25b, 28a seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
For in him we live, and move, and have our being;

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Psalm 28: 6,7 Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

 One day a little boy came to our home as an emergency placement. He was a scrawny little two and a half month old baby. We seldom had the opportunity to foster babies, so when given my choice between three siblings, I said we’d take the baby. It happened that we were also waiting for an adoption placement at the time, so we were only accepting short term emergency foster children. Two weeks quickly turned into two months, and then four months. By this time we had fallen in love with Justin, who we had somehow nicknamed ‘Gussy.’

 When our agency heard that we had used the word ‘adopt,’ two social workers were promptly dispatched to our door to set us straight. We were told in no uncertain terms that it was highly unlikely that we would ever be allowed to adopt this baby, and that we should forget about it.

 As much as I loved Gussy, I knew I needed to prepare my heart for whatever might happen. The only way to do that was to remind myself of who is in control. It wasn’t the social workers who had placed the baby, and it surely wasn’t us. It was God who brought Gussy to our home, and it was God who had a plan for his life. All he asked of us was to love this precious baby, and to care for him, for however long he stayed with us.

 As it turned out, Justin did stay with us! It was a very long and difficult process, but shortly after he turned four years old, we were granted legal guardianship of Justin. God is good!

 This song was my response to being told that we should not hold out hope of adopting Gussy. When it comes right down to it, this should be our response concerning all of our children. When the Lord blesses our lives with a child, we have no way of knowing how long we them. Whether through illness, a tragic accident, or some other circumstance, any one of our children can be taken from us. We need to cherish every moment we have with our children, and seek God’s wisdom for the part we have been given in his plan for their lives.
