Bring Them Unto Me

Bring them unto me,
your lost, your loved, your wayward ones,
bring them unto me, bring them unto me.
Oh hurt and weary come, come on bended knee,
and bring them unto me.

A father in despair is trying desperately
to find someone to deliver his son
from the devil's snare, and set him free.
But all he's tried has failed, and his heavy heart is grieved.
He's struggling on; his hope is almost gone,
when Jesus says, "Bring him unto me."
~
Bring them unto me,
your lost, your loved, your wayward ones,
bring them unto me, bring them unto me.
Oh hurt and weary come, come on bended knee,
and bring them unto me.
~
A child gone astray can shatter all our dreams.
Our hopes and plans built on shifting sand,
that keeps giving way beneath our feet.
But in our brokeness is the healing that we need.
We'll find the strength to hope and trust again,
'cause Jesus says, "Bring them unto me."
~
Bring them unto me,
your lost, your loved, your wayward ones,
bring them unto me, bring them unto me.
Oh hurt and weary come, come on bended knee,
 and bring them unto me.
~
Bring them unto me, and lay them at my feet.

I wrote this song in January, 2010. My friend Aliene had posted a message by Charles Spurgeon, who just happens to be one of my favorite preachers from days gone by.

His text was Mark 9:19 He answereth him, and saith, oh faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

In his message he kept repeating the phrase, "Bring them unto me!" Of course those words stuck in my head until I put them into a song.
