Be Still; Psalm 46:10

 This song is based on some favorite verses and phrases from the Bible, given to me by my friend Lori, at Frog's Lilypad. I also used some thoughts that she shared with me, as well as some other related scriptures. Lori's favorite phrase in the Bible is 'be still.' It's one of mine too, so right away, I knew the title of the song would be, Be Still.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the storm is swirling round me
and my fears and faith collide,
Jesus voice rings out through the dark,
and I'm drawn t'ward his light.
The Lord is my sun and my shield,
as I walk within his will.
Through my doubts and disappointments
I hear him say, Be still.
~
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know I'll work things for your good.
For I give grace and glory,
strength to strength, and faith to faith.
Be still and let my word direct your ways.
~
Let the words of my mouth and
meditations of my heart
be acceptable in God's sight.
He's my strength; he's my all.
Jesus is my precious redeemer;
he gives shelter from the winds,
and I rest within his haven
when he says, Peace be still.
~
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know I'll work things for your good.
For I give grace and glory,
strength to strength, and faith to faith.
Be still and let my word direct your ways.
~
Be still and know.
These are verses that Lori listed:
Psalm 46:10a Be still and know that I am God:  (I love this phrase; my dad often quoted it!)
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
I looked at other verses that used the phrase, 'be still':
Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Psalm 107:29,30 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them into their desired haven.
Other verses from my study:
Psalm 84:5,7 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
(Psalm 84 is wonderful, and beautifully poetic!)
Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith
