A Sweet Savour ~ 2 Corinthians 2:15

 My dad loved to grow plants and flowers of all kinds, but one of his favorites was a type of geranium. Unlike the regular geraniums, this variety isn’t known for it’s flowers. They’re called scented geraniums, and the many different scents are what gives these plants their appeal.

In the Power Of God, 1 Corinthians 2:5

The Christian Ladies Network recently started a Bible Memory Challenge, Through The Word. Each month we will study a new portion of scripture, and make a post about what we have learned. This month's verse is:

That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:5

Whom Shall I Fear? Psalm 27:1

 The Christian Ladies Network recently started a Bible Memory Challenge, Through The Word. Each month we will study a new portion of scripture, and make a post about what we have learned. This is our first verse:

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

A Bible study and song

My first thoughts when I read this verse were:
The Lord is my light....No matter how dark the night, No matter how dark my circumstance, No matter how dark the path ahead, No matter how dark my thoughts....the Lord is my light.
And He IS my salvation...No matter what comes, No matter how often I fail, I am secure IN HIM...The Lord is my salvation.
He is the strength of my life...No matter how small my strength; No matter what obstacles I face, No matter how difficult the way, he has all the strength I need....He is the strength of my life.
Whom shall I fear?....No matter what lies ahead, No matter what decisions I must make, No matter what other people may do, No matter what trial I face....Of whom shall I be afraid?

Immersed In My Saviour's Love, 1 Peter 1:8

  Immersed In My Saviour's Love, Psalm 34:7, Christian song

  Prior to my salvation, someone had told me that something happens when God saves you. I really didn’t understand what this meant. I had this idea in the back of my mind that something spectacular should happen at the moment I prayed. I was worried that I wouldn’t have this ‘experience.’ That was one of the things that held me back. I kept putting the Holy Spirit off, even though I knew that I needed salvation, and I longed for peace. When I couldn’t resist any longer, and I finally repented of my sins, asking Jesus to be my Saviour, there were no heavenly voices, and no lightning, but something did indeed happen. When that burden lifted, I felt such peace!
 As time went on, and I tried my best to be and to do what I thought my Lord required of me, there still seemed to be something missing. It wasn’t until I surrendered my will that I found that close relationship that I had been longing for. But in spite of knowing what I must do to stay in that right relationship with my Lord, I still find myself straying time and again. But no matter how many times I wander off, I always find Jesus waiting for me when I come back to that secret place of prayer. And every time, I marvel at the mercy and grace of my Lord.

  Years later, I heard a message about the three places we can be as Christians. The first is touching the hem of Jesus’ garment, the second, is walking hand in hand with Jesus, while the third is on his bosom, where there is no doubt or fear. I took those thoughts and combined with my own experience, I soon had another song.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’d been told about how Jesus had died to take my sin.
How I longed to know his presence, and have his peace within.
But how would I know this gift was mine?
What wonders would I see?
Then I finally trusted the Lord, and cried out,
“ Jesus, yes I believe!”
~
No angels, no heavenly voices, no lightning flash from above.
Just peace and joy unspeakable, immersed in my Saviour’s love!
~
Though I knew him as my Saviour, and tried to give my best,
how I longed for sweet communion; to lay across his breast.
I prayed, “ Jesus I surrender my desires and all my cares.”
When I finally gave all my heart,
he sent me wondrous answers to prayer.
~
No angels, no heavenly voices, no lightning flash from above.
Just peace and joy unspeakable, immersed in my Saviour’s love!
~
When I feel my first love fading, there’s just once place to go.
So, I run to meet with Jesus; he’s waiting there I know.
In my secret place, down on my knees, I seek my Saviour’s face.
As he draws me back to his heart,
he shows me awesome mercy and grace!
~
No angels, no heavenly voices, no lightning flash from above.
Just peace and joy unspeakable, immersed in my Saviour’s love!
Lessons From a Porcupine
  Many years ago, we had a dog named lady. One Sunday morning, Lady made a discovery....the fun of chasing a porcupine ends in pain.
Life lessons from a dog and a porcupine
 Before we could go to church, Brian and our son had to spend some time removing quills from Lady's nose, and also from her puppy, Belle's nose.
The Depth Of God's Love
 How can I measure a love with no boundaries?
How can I weigh Christ’s sacrifice?
How can I comprehend the depth of God’s love?
How can I thank him for giving me life?
I stand in awe of a love that’s so great;
a love so strong and true;
a love that offered this sinner grace;
a love that made my heart new.
I marvel at a love that’s so pure;
a love so good and just;
a love that gives me the strength to stand;
a love that I can trust.
  How can I comprehend the depth of God’s love? To think that God loved me enough to send his only begotten Son down from the glories of heaven to become the sacrifice for my sins, is truly an awesome thought! But even more wonderful is the knowledge that he not only forgave me and saved me the day that I cried out to him in repentance, but he continues to forgive me again and again each and every time I ask him. He never turns me away, he never refuses to forgive, he is always long suffering and slow to anger.
  If only we, who call ourselves Christians, could have a fraction of that kind of love for each other, and for the lost, what a difference we could make in this fallen world!
Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
Psalm 103:8-10 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
I've Been To The Mountain
 Yes, I’ve been to the mountain with Jesus,
high above the clouds of my life,
where the Son shone warm on my face,
and my vision was cleared by his light.
I Will Exalt Him ~ Exodus 15:2
  While reading through the Book of Numbers, I came across a portion of scripture that I had read many times before, but suddenly saw in a whole new way. It’s where Moses is telling God that he is not able to bear all these people alone. (Numbers 11:12-14) After all, he did not conceive them, nor did he give birth to them, and yet it seemed that God was asking him to be a father to these people who more often than not acted like a bunch of whiny kids.
  Although these verses are about Moses and the children of Israel, it wasn’t difficult to apply them to myself and my own family. I have never for a moment regretted having any of our eight children, but there are times when I do feel overwhelmed by the responsibility we’ve taken on. It’s those days when the kids are whining and complaining, and nothing satisfies them, that I can relate to what Moses said to the Lord. We can’t do it alone.
